    Vanessa Goosen, former Miss SA Finalist, who was released in November 2010 from a female prison in Thailand after serving 16½ years for drug trafficking is currently employed by Khulisa as a motivational speaker and community co-ordinator.

    Tool introduced to Khulisa’s programmes to measure social impact. Khulisa has formed an alliance with Dr Barbara Holtmann who, in partnership with the CSIR, has developed a tool kit to assist communities, through local collaboration and accountability, measuring social impact.

  • Reinvent Innovations

    Reinvent Innovations
    In 2002 Khulisa launched a project in Johannesburg Female Prison which aimed to train offenders in creating saleable goods from waste material. This original initiative was officially launched as an income generating initiative by Khulisa in August 2010 under the name Reinvent Innovations. Youth are being trained around the country as being given the skills to manufacture these items for local distribution.

  • The “Face it” Poetry Competition

    The “Face it” Poetry Competition
    In 2009 members of the Daveyton Ubuntu Club identified an interest in poetry. Subsequently a national poetry competition was held in order to give a voice to children around the country. Over 500 children participated expressing their feelings around violence in South Africa. A book is due to be published featuring the best submissions.
