Early Intervention

“As a result of the Child Justice Act children who have committed an offence for the first time and who have taken responsibility for their actions are given an opportunity to undergo a diversion programme.  The child is assessed by a probation officer and the probation officer will recommend an appropriate diversion option to the courts.  Children who successfully complete the diversion programme do not have a criminal record and are thus given a second chance.  Khulisa offers a number of options for diversion and are successfully implementing these programmes in a variety of areas across the country.”

JARP and Restorative Justice programmes offer people an opportunity to restore relationships through mediation before the cases enter the justice system.

Children who are awaiting trial have a need for life skills programmes and these are offered through the Mirror programme.
